Cheshire Cat
Across the tie-dyes sheets and me on the mattress on the floor footsteps felt, pounce to get my attention.
My eyes pop open like window shades searching for the patter felt not seen of little paws' pretension.
The cat, of normal housecat size jumps and stretches growing longer, larger, surreal and yet transcendent.
Between the matching tie-dyed sheets-made-curtains through solid wall and window the cat-thing springs respondent.
Landing outside firmly in the fruit tree it has grown to wife-size the round face looks at me directly.
A feline pose, reposed, drawn out with hands dangling that grin... taunting, teasing comprehends me exactly.
